The Worship Coordinator serves under the Campus Pastor with dotted-line oversight from the Worship Experience Pastor. For a part-time position, the schedule generally includes Sunday support, Tuesday meetings at our central office in Parsippany, and time during the week for a total of 20 hours. This position is Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Responsibilities:
Sunday:
- Leading the campus in Worship in both English and Spanish worship
- Directing and supporting the Worship Team and Production Coordinator
- Preparing the team with proper communication, resources, and support as needed
Tuesday:
- Worship Department Weekly Meeting led by the Worship Experience Pastor
- Campus Team Weekly Meeting Lead by the Campus Pastor
Other Responsibilities:
- Manage production needs with oversight of the Campus Production Coordinator
- Review past services for improvements and identify best practices
- Manage the Campus Runsheet and ensure it’s updated weekly with songs and resources
- Rehearse with the worship team (weeknights)
Volunteers:
- Recruit - Identify/approach interested individuals and process interest forms, working through the role-specific recruiting and selection process
- Retain - Regular communication (through email, text, huddles, and team meetings), maintain and communicate the schedule, foster community within,n and provide spiritual care to the team members
- Reward - Appreciate and celebrate team members regularly
Qualifications:
- Faith: Seeking a candidate with a vibrant relationship with Jesus who understands how to lead and shape a worship experience in a contemporary church setting.
- Bilingual: Preferring a leader who can speak and sing in both English and Spanish.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience on a Worship Team at a church of 250 or more, leadership of a Worship Team preferred.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of music theory with an ability to coach other musicians and vocalists.
- Musical Abilities: Competent instrumentalist (guitar or piano) and vocal proficiency.
- Leadership: Capable of working under pressure with a positive and optimistic attitude.
- Tech Savvy: Learns quickly and can adapt to changing technology with ease, experience with Google application preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Relational Ability: A “people person” who can work effectively with staff and volunteers of diverse personality types.
- Schedule: Available Sundays from setup to teardown, for meetings in the office during the week, specifically Tuesday, and weeknight rehearsal.
