As the Central Pastor, Global Outreach you will report to the Pastor of Ministries and assume responsibility for shaping the vision for global outreach at SBC and executing the necessary strategies and tactics.
Your Essential Responsibilities:
In this position, you will:
- Provide vision, leadership, and managerial oversight for the Global Outreach Ministry.
- Lead a team responsible for the oversight of a well-established, large scale mission project in Tanzania (Mairowa and Kondoa) including two primary education schools and a girls’ dormitory
- Project responsibilities include management of relationship with strategic on-the-ground partner, physical asset management, and engagement of congregation for child sponsorships.
- Engage volunteer-led Global Resource Team (GRT), to provide strategic support for long-term missionary care, and campus-level engagement of congregation in support of SBC’s supported long-term missionaries.
- Steward our relationships on the European continent and cast a clear and compelling strategy for expanding our missions activities in Europe. Key partnerships to leverage and evolve include the European Leadership Forum (ELF) and Greater Europe Mission (GEM).
- Collaborate with Central and Adult Ministry Leaders to curate short-term mission trips that help our pastoral staff utilize these trips to disciple their people into deeper relationships with Jesus Christ.
- Build trust and rapport along all lines of involvement, including volunteers, staff, leadership, and short-term mission teams.
- Pursue an understanding of SBC leadership’s expectations of the Global Outreach Ministry as it relates to the all-church goals, services, and events.
- Develop a church-wide communication strategy to build awareness, and ultimately greater ownership of the Global Outreach initiatives of SBC by the congregation.
- Work with the Global Outreach team to develop annual ministry goals, objectives and budget that support the church-wide goals.
- Serve in a pastoral role to counsel and guide field missionaries.
- Recruit, nurture and equip a large network of volunteers and volunteer leaders to support Global Outreach programs such as short-term missions and the prayer and nurture network for our field missionaries.
- Create opportunities for field missionaries to connect and share their work with SBC’s congregation and with each other.
- As a member of SBC’s broader pastoral team, assist with the development of church-wide ministry goals.
As a Team Leader, you will:
- Act as a servant leader by training, encouraging, coaching, and developing your Team Member(s)
- Foster a spirit of trust and of innovation on your team
- Meet personally in a pre-scheduled one-on-one meeting with each Team Member at least once a month
- Conduct annual performance reviews
- Approve PTO requests, timecards, and expense reports
This position requires in-office work and does not qualify for a remote arrangement. Church Membership is required for most paid positions.
SBC does not participate in COBRA or Unemployment Insurance.
